What is Immigration?

Immigration is the term used to describe the process of moving to a new country with the intention of remaining to live there.

Anyone who is not a national/citizen of the country they intend to move to requires some form of immigration status. Whether that is general registration of an EU national moving to another EU country, a work and residence permit for an employee going to relocate to another country, or for a retiree, student or family member joining other family in the country of relocation.

It should be noted that there is a subtle difference between immigration and emigration.

Emigration is specifically used to indicate people leaving the country in question. Immigration is specifically used to indicate people arriving at the country being discussed. One emigrates FROM a nation, whereas one immigrates TO a nation.

Immigration options within the Employer of Record (EoR) service

Mauve, when required and within our capabilities, provides an Immigration service to its Employer of Record (EoR) workers. In addition to the statutory employment compliance elements of living and working overseas under an EoR service, we wish to ensure that the employee will not encounter any additional stresses when entering or exiting their country of work.

We make every effort to ensure the employee is comfortable in their new environment and can focus on their job. Additionally, we provide the reassurance that the employee can fully integrate into their new community whether that is on a temporary or permanent basis.

We arrange immigration and right to work so that our EoR workers can hit the ground running without having to navigate the red tape first hand.

Mauve supports EoR workers by providing compliant work and residency solutions, ensuring permits and visas that are fit for purpose and remain valid.

We gather accurate data, file immigration applications to the relevant authorities, monitor and/or appeal decisions when necessary. We also facilitate visa and permit endorsements or issuance.

When renewal is required, we ensure sufficient lead time is applied to support smooth transitions between working authorisation without interrupting the work or project contract.

Mauve handles de-registrations as and when required to ensure that the worker's exit from the country is as smooth as their arrival.

By leveraging local knowledge and government platforms in addition to our own in-house wealth of experience and case studies, Mauve compiles comprehensive immigration-linked reporting and information to be shared with the employee (and when possible, any family members) in preparation for their relocation. We submit applications both in person (when necessary), but more frequently online, and we use applicable, compliant methods to follow up on those applications.

Where Mauve is the direct employer and is required to sponsor the work permit, we work closely with the immigration authorities to ensure that we are operating within the guidelines of the law. Where we are not able to be the direct employer, we partner with reputable in-country representatives who are able to support and sponsor the work permits required, to provide this service on our behalf.

EoR Immigration

  • When a client does not have an entity in the country where they wish to hire a non-national, Mauve will employ the worker and sponsor their immigration. This will be done either via Mauve's own entity or via a trusted in-country representative.

  • Each country has its own specific requirements which vary greatly, so at the initial enquiry stage, every worker requiring support is assessed by Mauve’s immigration department to ascertain their suitability for obtaining the appropriate work and/or residence permit.

Corporate Immigration

When a client does have an entity in the desired country but requires assistance with their worker's immigration, our corporate immigration solution offers a bespoke service available at three different levels of involvement / pricing according to the client's needs.

In this circumstance, Mauve will not sponsor a visa or permit application but will ensure that the client is eligible to do so on behalf of their employees, or family members.

Mauve provides this corporate immigration service as we understand that even when a client has a fully operational and registered in-country company, they may not always have the knowledge or resources to support their foreign staff with the correct advice or support when it comes to immigration compliance.

Mauve has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the pitfalls, anticipated red tape, timelines and best practices with regards to immigration. We support our clients' workers and their families at every step of their overseas relocation, providing compliant immigration solutions, and ensuring permits and visas are fit for purpose and remain valid for the duration of stay.

We gather accurate data, file immigration applications to the relevant authorities, and monitor and/or appeal decisions. We facilitate visa and permit endorsements or issuance, then continue to monitor their status throughout the duration of the contract.

We can advise the client on the steps to take when a renewal is required, allowing them to leave sufficient lead time when applying in order to ensure smooth transitions. We can also support with any renewals or extensions.

As exiting a country isn’t always a straightforward process, we also offer advice on de-registrations and exit visas.
