Personal Income Tax

Personal income tax in Bulgaria is subject to a flat tax rate of 10%.

Pension Insurance

National Social Insurance (NSI): This pillar covers the entire working population in Bulgaria and operates on a pay-as-you-go basis. The contributions of the currently employed go into the Pension Fund of the National Social Insurance, which are then used to pay the pensions of current retirees. Insurance is compulsory and provided by the National Social Security Institute (NSSI).

Universal Pension Fund

The Universal Pension Fund (UPF) in Bulgaria is part of the country’s three-pillar pension system and provides a supplementary lifelong pension to individuals born after December 31, 1959.

Health Insurance

Employer Contributions: Employers contribute 4.80% of the employee’s salary towards health insurance. This is applied on a salary range between 933 to 3,750 BGN monthly.

Employee Contributions: Employees contribute 3.20% of their salary towards health insurance, also applied on the same salary range.
